With the recent policy change by the TSA to allow small knives on commercial aircraft to a revitalized effort by some state legislatures to legalize the switch blade there has been a renewed interest in KNIVES by the general public.
The reason for this renewed spark in all things pointy and sharp is quite simple: “Joe Q” Public figures if they (The Federal Gun Grabbers) are trying to get his guns and ammo, his knives and swords are next! This type of thinking cannot be labeled as “paranoid” as some have stated since a large percentage of the gun grabbing populace have inferred banning all “Dangerous Weapons”.
As the Founding Fathers repeatedly warned: When you open the door to Government intrusion into ANY matters regarding personal freedoms, you are inviting problems. As JRR Tolkien penned in his Lord of the Rings Trilogy; “Men’s hearts are easily corrupted by Power”, and as that Federal Power grows, history has repeatedly shown us that Tyranny is the end result.
To qualify this point, look at this quote from 1588 by Japanese Shogun, Toyotomi Hideoyoshi:
“The people of the various provinces are STRICTLY FORBIDDEN to have in their possession any SWORDS, SHORT SWORDS, BOWS, SPEARS, FIREARMS, or any other types of arms. The possession of these implements makes difficult the COLLECTION OF TAXES AND TENDS TO FOMENT UPRISINGS.”
History teaches us time and time again that corrupt Governments have always disarmed the populace so they may take advantage of them in some way. It may be equated to the analogy of muzzling a dog and neutering it so it is no longer a threat….you have taken away the dog’s ability to defend itself and also removed its innate desire to be aggressive. It is interesting to note the last comment in the above quote as I think it really gives away every corrupt Government’s ultimate goal: They Disarm you so they can slaughter you quicker when you attempt the ultimately inevitability; the coup de’ tat.
Ultimately, when all the smoke has cleared, the CO’s responsibility remains the same: Continue to stand up to tyranny and remember that it is your INNATE right to be armed TO THE TEETH not only with “Assault Weapons” which enable them too, if need be, to (as Thomas Jefferson stated in the Jefferson Papers) to protect themselves against “Tyranny in Government”, but also at the Grass Roots Level, to carry the most basic form of defense weapon (a knife) even one that is automatic or with a blade over 5 1/2″ to protect themselves; it is a BASIC, INALIENABLE RIGHT.
Organizations such as Knife Rights and the Constitution Society just to name a couple, are already getting the word out concerning knife rights. Gaining support and financial backing from some powerful folks in Washington. But just like with the battle to maintain the integrity of the 2nd Amendment, the real fight is going to be won at the grass-roots level..STATE and LOCAL, so that means the CO has to put just as much effort behind this as fighting to keep our gun rights intact! After all, when you really boil all of this down it comes down to PROTECTING INDIVIDUAL FREEDOMS.
